Is Cream Wax easy to use on cheese?

Just wondering if anyone's used this product before, cream wax with mold inhibitors. Is it easy to apply? Can it be used on any type of cheese? We're thinking of using it on a cheddar instead of waxing or vacuum sealing. Would love to hear your experience. Thanks!

Cream wax with mold inhibitors works well on hard cheeses like cheddar. Apply thin, even coats when cheese surface is dry. Easier than traditional waxing, provides good protection.

Sounds good! Do you find it peels off easily when its time to age the cheese, or does it stick pretty firmly?

Yeah, cream wax is really easy to use, just brush or dip it onto warm cheese. It works particularly well with cheddar and outperforms regular wax on cheeses with uneven shapes. The mold inhibitors are a huge plus for aging. Just make sure the surface of your cheese is dry before you apply it for the best adhesion.

They are right! You can apply 1-2 thin layers and it might take 3-6 hours to completely dry before you can apply the coat on the reverse side.

Just make sure that the cheese is at room temperature before cutting it.

Does cream wax crack less over time? And how long do you usually wait after brushing it on before moving the cheese back to the cave? I'm still learning, but loving the process so far!

Cream wax does tend to crack less than paraffin but only if the humidity in your aging space stays consistent and the coats are thin and even. If you're brushing it on, give it a full 24 hrs before moving the cheese back to the cave to avoid trapping moisture.
