molds on my cheese

I have my cheese in a cloth and usually swap the cloth every day, but I had a work trip for 5 days.
when I'm back, there are black molds on my cheese. I need advice, what should I do with this?
can I just remove the molds, or do I have to get rid of the whole cheese?

though luck! you need to carefully check. if the cheese is hard and firm and the mold is only on the surface, you can safely wash it off. if the cheese is soft or mushy in the moldy area, or if the mold smells putrid, you must throw it out
so, if the mold keeps coming back, try switching from a cloth wrap to a wax coating or vacuum sealing after the first week of aging. It stops the surface mold issue completely

I’m curious, when you switched to wax or vacuum sealing, did you notice any change in flavor or texture compared to cloth aging? Also, do you usually seal right after the first week, or wait until the rind has firmed up a bit? I’m debating whether to invest in wax or just stick with cloth and more frequent care.
