Mushrooms on cheese?

Hi Deb here and I’m new to cheesemaking and I'm wondering if we could add button mushrooms to a batch of fresh cheese. I don’t know if that’s possible or safe. Has anyone experimented with this combo? thanks in advance!

Welcome, Deb! Great to have you here . Mushrooms in cheese definitely sound tasty, though I’d be curious how they’d hold up in the moisture and whether they’d change the texture over time.

Are you thinking of mixing them straight into the curds or adding them after pressing as a flavor layer?
