Any cheesemaking homemade tools?

Been making cheese for years but never had the right tool for curds. After watching a few videos, saw someone build a curd knife with fishing line and hardwood. Has anyone here tried to make their own? Looking to get some inspirations!

Hi @spanki30! Oh my first curd knife was literally a repurposed bread knife, which worked but tore the curds more than I liked. Later I tried a DIY version with stainless wire strung across a wooden frame, and it gave much better cuts.

The fishing line idea sounds clever! do you think it would hold up well with repeated use or might it stretch over time?

Nothing about special curd knives here, I just use an old blunt kitchen knive which suits me fine.
The photo shows a home made stainless steel mold for my blue cheeses up to 1,5 kilo. They both fit in each other and easily be detached when the curd has set to its final height.

Two sticks and a nylon fishing cord is all I need to cut my blue cheeses. Works well for this type of soft cheese. Hope you can see the cord. A detail shows how the cord is secured. Molten at the end and secured with a cut off tooth pick in the hole. The plastic tube is a container for the ‘knife’. Hope you like it!
