I want to make sour cream, but I only have access to store-bought milk, not fresh milk, does anyone have a simple recipe or method that works well using regular store milk?

You can absolutely whip up some sour cream using store-bought milk. For a creamier consistency, go for whole milk and mix in 1/4 cup of buttermilk with 2 cups of milk. Heat the mixture to about 100°F, then stir in 1/4 cup of heavy cream. After that, just let it sit at room temperature for anywhere between 12 to 24 hours. You'll end up with a nice, thick sour cream

Go easy on the culture, or it'll get too tangy and split. Hot temps can also kill the culture, but if it's too cold, itll be slow.

To make sour cream with store-bought milk, start by combining 1 cup of heavy cream with 1/4 cup of buttermilk. Let the mixture sit at room temperature for about 24 hours, and then pop it in the fridge for another 24 hours. This simple method will give you that nice, thick, and creamy texture you're after.
